This is the picture of the controversial "Torogan House" which I took during my overnight stay in Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac Bataan. A Torogan was a symbol of high social status of maranao, a tribal people occupying the land around Lake Lanao situated in the central part of Lanao del Sur. The province where I was born in 1964 during the Philippine Resettlement Era. My father was among the first settlers in Wao Lanao del Sur, my birth place.
History will tell us that this torogan was once the residence of Sultan or Datu in the Maranao Community, The last habitable torogan was declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines.
